Our Story
I always dreamed of starting a business. In 1994, I decided that I needed to take the opportunity to do just that. Looking back, it made no sense since I had 4 young children, and 2 of them were in diapers. Thankfully I have an incredible wife who knew that I would never be satisfied if I didn’t at least try to live my dream.
So...where to start? After looking at several business opportunities, I came across the concept of bathtub and tile refinishing. I have always loved home improvement and I had no idea that it could even be done.
Most people rip out and replace their bathtubs – showers – and tile. Not because they are no longer functional or for structural reasons, but rather because they are no longer look appealing or the color is out of date.
Over 25 years later, I still find great satisfaction walking in to a bathroom with a bathtub – shower – or wall tile that is worn out or out of date and making it look like new again. We see our customers like our next door neighbors. That's why it's important to us that we get them the best possible results for the best price. I am still amazed and gratified when customers tell me how much money we saved them over replacement.

Doug Dybing
Doug is the founder and owner of Surface Renew. Basically, he’s the guy that keeps the lights on.
Nathan Calderon
Nathan’s officiated 4 weddings (Wow!) and his favorite Bible verse is Romans 12:2. Before working at Surface Renew he worked in the fitness industry for 10 years.
Dan Krautbauer
Last year Dan participated in the World Series OF Poker in Las Vegas. According to him, it was the experience of a lifetime. Apart from offering high-value services to our clients of course. He has served Surface Renew for over 25 years and personally has refinished thousands of bathrooms.
Aaron Bryant
Aaron makes his own granola and his favorite quote is from J. R. R. Tolkien: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” What Aaron loves about Surface Renew is that we genuinely care about both customers and coworkers.
Brandon Fischbach
Before working at Surface Renew, Brandon was an EMT for 7 years. We feel safer just having him around! Brandon loves building connecting with his coworkers and building culture at work.
Cameron DeGuzman
Cameron loves meeting new people and getting to know them. That’s probably why our customers love him!
Jesus Simon
Jesus is one of our ace techs here at Surface Renew. Since joining the team, he’s become an expert at the craft, and we love having him here.
Ty Zubulake
Ty isn’t just great at his job, he’s great at basketball too. In junior year of high school he was state basketball player of the year!
